Our program is structured to meet the needs of youth by offering a regular running schedule, more than once each week, for multiple weeks. This program culminates in a fun run or other organized running event, providing a tangible goal for the participants. We incorporate educational topics such as healthy eating habits, mental health, exercise, and sleep, ensuring a well-rounded experience that combines physical fitness with valuable life skills.
Healthy Eating Habits: We educate participants on the importance of balanced nutrition, teaching them how to make healthy food choices that fuel their bodies and support their physical activities. Topics include understanding food groups, reading nutrition labels, meal planning, and the benefits of staying hydrated. We provide practical tips and hands-on activities, such as cooking demonstrations and healthy snack preparation, to reinforce these concepts.
Mental Health: Mental well-being is a critical component of our program. We offer sessions on stress management, emotional resilience, mindfulness, and self-care practices. Participants learn techniques for managing anxiety, building self-esteem, and maintaining a positive mindset. We also create a supportive environment where youth can openly discuss their feelings and challenges, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
Exercise: Physical activity is at the heart of our program. Beyond running, we introduce participants to a variety of exercises and fitness routines that improve overall health and physical conditioning. We emphasize the benefits of regular exercise, such as improved cardiovascular health, stronger muscles, and enhanced mental clarity. Through structured running schedules and diverse physical activities, we aim to instill a lifelong love for fitness in our participants.
Sleep: Adequate rest is essential for the growth and well-being of youth. We teach the importance of good sleep hygiene and its impact on physical health, cognitive function, and emotional stability. Participants learn about establishing regular sleep routines, creating a conducive sleep environment, and the effects of screen time on sleep quality. We provide strategies to help them develop habits that ensure they get the rest they need to thrive.
We serve a diverse youth population, welcoming participation from children of all genders, races, religions, ethnic origins, and economic statuses. Our program is designed to be inclusive and non-discriminatory, offering structured activities for specific age groups with clearly defined minimum and maximum ages for participation.
Safety is a top priority. We require the completion of sexual abuse awareness and reporting training, and we require criminal background checks for all adult program staff and volunteers.
